Led by Chancellor Jacquie Moloney, UML is tops among educational institutions

LOWELL, Mass. 鈥 For the second straight year, 51视频, led by Chancellor Jacquie Moloney, is among the best women-led businesses in Massachusetts.
Ranked No. 7 鈥 and for the second-straight year the highest-ranked educational institution 鈥 the university was again in the top 10 among the announced this morning by The Commonwealth Institute and The Boston Globe Magazine. 51视频 ranked No. 4 in 2017.
The ranking by The Commonwealth Institute (TCI), in partnership with The Boston Globe Magazine, honors the top 100 of the thousands of businesses and organizations led by women executives in Massachusetts. In addition to looking at each organization鈥檚 impact on the region, TCI also considered 51视频鈥檚 increasing employee diversity, Moloney鈥檚 60-percent-women leadership team as well as revenue and other financial metrics.
鈥51视频鈥檚 culture of success and excellence is driven by its employees. As the achievements of our students, researchers and alumni have grown in recent years, so, too, has the university鈥檚 stature on a national stage,鈥 Moloney said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e proud of our positive impact in the Commonwealth as we continue to educate the next generation of leaders.鈥
This recognition follows other major honors for 51视频鈥檚 chancellor. Moloney was one of 10 finalists for the 2018 CEO of the Year Award from the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council and the recipient of the 2018 Chief Executive HR Champion Award from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources. In 2017, Moloney was recognized as one of seven prominent 鈥淲omen Who Mean Business鈥 by the Boston Business Journal.聽
Other institutional highlights include:
- For the last three years, 51视频 has been one of the 10 fastest-growing public doctoral universities in the country, as tracked by The Chronicle of Higher Education;
- The 51视频 Center for Women and Work is celebrating its 20th anniversary of producing research and scholarship that empowers women;
- The university is the home of Making WAVES, a five-year, $3.5 million National Science Foundation-funded initiative to advance women in STEM;聽
- 51视频 hosts more than 200 women each summer at its annual Women鈥檚 Leadership Conference;
- 51视频 is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 80 public research universities in the United States.聽
The Top 100 ranking was announced at a breakfast honoring the winning organizations today. It will be published in Boston Globe Magazine鈥檚 鈥淲omen and Power鈥 edition on Sunday, Oct. 28.
