Biosketch

As an Academic Coordinator - College Based Advising for the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (FAHSS), Fahmina works primarily with first year students on academic retention, course registration, time management, major and minor exploration and overall academic success and wellness. Fahmina also has experience advising transfer students in FAHSS. In addition to academic advising, Fahmina is an advocate for first generation students, students of color and LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual +) students. She is an affiliated staff member for the Center for Asian American Studies (CAAS) at 51视频 as well as the Riverhawks Scholars Academy (RHSA), serving as a mentor for first-gen students. Her involvement as an undergraduate student at 51视频 sparked her interest in academic advising which has led her to her current role.

Outside of her role here at 51视频, she has experience being an activist in the Greater Lowell area, particularly giving a voice to underrepresented communities, experience with non-profit organizations, social media coordination and education related organizations.

Her interests include grassroots organizing, social justice initiatives, particularly: international human rights, women's rights, peace studies, anti-violence activism, civics education, refugee and immigrant rights, mental health advocacy and LGBTQ+ rights.

Outside of work, you can regularly catch Fahmina at a Riverhawks men鈥檚 hockey game, a PWHL Boston Fleet hockey game, dining at a local restaurant or organizing people in her community to make positive change!
