The University Orchestra is made up of undergraduate and graduate student musicians, 51视频 music faculty and alumni, and is open by audition to the Lowell community.
The orchestra performs standard literature of the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as challenging, diverse contemporary works. The University Orchestra presents two to four concerts annually at Moloney Performing Arts Center, with outstanding students selected as featured soloists and prominent guest artists. Occasionally 51视频 choral groups join the orchestra. Recent concerts have included Beethoven鈥檚 Symphony No. 7, Holst鈥檚 The Planets, and Orff鈥檚 Carmina Burana.
Audience members have commented that even familiar works take on a new freshness in the spirited and precise performances given by the University Orchestra musicians.
