Overview

The M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at 51视频 prepares graduates to support technical roles in research and production settings that will help meet the need for new drugs to treat human disease and that will evaluate the effectiveness of drug therapies, including drug safety.聽

The M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences is listed as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) degree and students may be eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT) STEM extension.

Admission & 51视频 Requirements

Applicants to the M.S. program must have a bachelor's degree or be in the last semester of their baccalaureate program. Up to 12 credits of appropriate graduate course work with a grade of B or better can be transferred into the 51视频 M.S. Pharmaceutical Science programs if approved by the Graduate Coordinator.聽

Upon admission or through the successful completion of prerequisite courses, students will be expected to have demonstrated undergraduate level knowledge in

  • general and organic chemistry, and聽
  • biology or anatomy and physiology.聽

Curriculum

The M.S. curriculum consists of 32 credits of coursework. Coursework will be scheduled in the fall spring semesters. Full-time students should finish in 12 to 15 months. Students who attend part-time should finish in as little as two years and well within five years. The Program Director and advisors in the program will guide M.S. students through a part-time or full-time program of study. Full-time study is equivalent to 9 credits per semester.聽

Bachelor's to Master's Programs

51视频 undergraduate students with a 3.000 GPA or better have the opportunity to save time and money by earning a bachelor's and a master's degree in a little as five years.聽Students can continue from bachelor鈥檚 to master鈥檚 level studies within their own department. Or students can apply to a program in a different department to create a set of skills to meet emerging needs in the workplace and their own academic interests.
