While most research conducted at 51视频 is considered "fundamental research", with no restrictions on participation or publication, an increasing amount of projects are coming in with controls on who can participate, on what information can be disseminated, and with challenging IT security controls. Working with ORI, researchers presented with these controls will need to decide:
- Do you want to work on such a project?
- Do you have the required staff/students to work on the project?
- Do you have the ability to control the lab and office space needed to conduct the research?
- What impact will the project have on the participants' employment and academic futures?
For additional information on performing controlled research at 51视频, you can watch this detailed presentation: , which includes factors to consider when answering the above questions.
You can also read more about universities and export controls, including some case studies, in this (pdf).
